Crash Course

The Art of Business Without Really Trying

1.What Do You Mean You Aren't Like Amazon?

If a person doesn't respond after 5 minutes of sending a private message or email, it doesn't mean he or she has bad business practices. It means the seller has other things going on that are stopping him or her from responding. Yes, technology is here, and many have smart phones in their hands. That doesn't mean everyone is online all the time. Waiting for a couple of hours or a couple of days is not an act of nature. It's called patience.
Patience looks much better than recieving a message and 3 minutes saying, " And I know u r not on your phone 24/7 but when your talking to potential business you should make an effort to respond." No. Just no.

Once you leap into social media, there's no going back.

2. You Said No So That Means You Hate My Soul

If the seller says no to a trade, don't take it personally. It could mean he or she is just not interested. That's all. It may be something beautiful and the seller saying no is not diminishing the fact that it is, in fact, pretty. Buying and selling isn't monopoly filled with unlimited fake money, land, and ribbons.

3. Two's A Company, Three's a Crowd

When selling and buying, it should be between the buyer and seller. If the sale is not going the way one wants, don't try to create an army of people to contact the seller and tell them why such a transaction should happen . Sometimes a sale simply can not happen, and forcing it helps neither party.
The Chronicles Of Narnia turned ten this year. I was in 3rd grade, and this was always my favorite scene.

4. Plastic Ponies Can Bring Joy, But Also Facepalms

Models horses are fun. Really, they are. Some play with them while others like to show. Both are great. Because there are so many sources of fun for models, each collector has details they want and details they don't. A  performance shower may want an all around performance model. A person who plays with their model may want a model with four straight legs. Nothing's wrong with either preference.  That's why models are fun. The issue comes when one person doesn't like another person's preference. That's when instead of a facepalm, a facehoof occurs.

5. Waiting For A Hero

Dealing business is for mature people. Maturity has nothing to deal with age though. A ten year old can be more mature than someone ten or fifteen years his or her senior. If you can't handle it, get a parent involved. It's better to get a parent involved and have him or her do it for you. It stops headaches and it make you look better. What can be better than that?
Hyperbole And A Half  is hilarious. Just saying.
The Art of Business Without Really Trying starts with little things. But important things. Starting with these steps can help stop tension.

Hopefully you enjoyed this! :)

  1. Haha, that's awesome - all of it! I especially love that you used a drawing from Hyperbole and a Half (and sort of another one) AND credited where it came from. I see her stuff everywhere, with no mention of the source, it's a bummer. She IS hilarious. Bravo, well done post! :)
