Hinkle's books...Are you familiar with Thomas C. Hinkle's books? He wrote about 29 on horses and dogs, published in the 1920s, 30s and 40s (last one 1952). Familiar titles include Silver, Hurricane Pinto, Buckskin, Black Storm and Mustang. His best known and my favorite is Black Storm.
